(Cynthia) In May of 2018, A Faithful Step blog was born. It started with one faithful step forward, following a nudge to begin writing and sharing my story. Deployed in the Middle East, I had the opportunity to develop my craft and pour my heart and soul into posts without competing priorities - family and friends, etc. After writing and publishing a few pieces, I started dreaming of expanding my blog to reach more women around the world, yet I knew that there would be many challenges standing in my way.
How could I keep up the blog, manage a full time job while raising my young daughter and prioritizing my marriage?
I considered reaching out on Facebook to see if anyone was interested in partnering up, but I wasn’t sure if that was the appropriate thing to do. I wanted to make sure that God was involved in every minute detail, so I took to prayer.
About a week later, I was faced with an answer to my prayer...
(Corinne) I’ve been writing on various blogs for almost two years now. One blog for military moms and another for small business owners. I love and thoroughly enjoy writing for those platforms, but as I sank into a challenging season of life, I found myself needing to write about my faith. I felt the Lord nudging me to share the biggest part of my life, the problem was, I didn’t have a home for it.
I believe the Lord has graciously given me a unique voice and now was the time to use it for furthering His kingdom. I’ve never struggled with being vulnerable; so why not use my most vulnerable time to share with others!
It started because I wrote a piece that I didn’t know what to do with. So, I reached out to various faith-based blogs asking if they needed a guest contributor. Several women responded and said, “yes!”, but one, in particular, stood out to me...
Her name was Cynthia.
She responded with eagerness and such bright JOY. She said she had been praying to find a partner to join her on A Faithful Step. I hemmed and hawed about it for a few days, but I knew I was going to do it instantaneously. There wasn’t really a question, it just fit, we just fit. I didn’t overthink it, I just accepted that this is what the Lord had been leading me towards!
Once we got over the awkwardness of pursuing uncharted territory, we plunged right in to developing a platform together. We messaged each other on Facebook, email, and eventually Marco Polo (video based chat), and discussed everything from our babies to our spiritual journey. It was through these conversations we got to know and trust each other and develop our purpose for the blog--our Mission and Vision.
